The procedure

Children under the age of 18 years need to be accompanied by an adult (parent or guardian). We strongly advise that patients not bring children along without another responsible supervising adult. We cannot provide supervision for the children.

Plan to allow 45 minutes to one hour for this exam.

During this, warm gel will be applied to your skin. A transducer, a device that converts electrical energy into sound waves, will be moved over your skin to look inside your arteries. The gel prevents air from getting between the transducer and your skin. Although you feel the transducer moving on your skin, you should feel no discomfort.

After Care

Results of your exams will be discussed with you by your doctor.
